At AROHE, we believe that every retiree's story is a vital part of our collective heritage. We are committed to celebrating your contributions and fostering a community where all voices are heard and valued. We partnered with Morehouse College National Alumni Association to produce this collection of videos featuring insightful conversations with esteemed retired faculty members from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), offering profound glimpses into their remarkable journeys and lasting contributions to higher education.

This initiative stems from our deep-seated commitment to inclusivity and the celebration of diversity within our membership and the broader academic community.

We invite you immerse yourself in these powerful stories that highlight the rich tapestry of voices within our educational community. Each interview is a testament to the wisdom, resilience, and enduring legacy of HBCU educators who have shaped countless lives and advanced the mission of higher education.

Join us in honoring these voices:

  • View the interviews by clicking on the images above.
  • Share Your reflections by engaging with us on Linkedin and sharing your thoughts on these inspiring stories.
  • Connect with us. If you are a retiree interested in sharing your story, email us at info@arohe.org.

We extend our deepest gratitude to each interviewee for their generosity in sharing their journeys. Your stories inspire us all, and we are profoundly grateful for the opportunity to preserve and amplify your voices.

This project was made possible by the dedicated efforts of:

  • AROHE board member Emma Gillom Ward, who worked tirelessly to engage retirees from HBCUs.
  • AROHE board members Kaye Jeter and Caroline Kane, who spearheaded this project.
  • Morehouse College National Alumni Association Executive Director Michael Levesque and student interns Melanie DeLaRosa and Noah Jamison, who partnered with AROHE to conduct the interviews.
  • Eric Johnson, who volunteered to produce the videos.
