AROHE is pleased to offer a limited number of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Scholarships for people to attend the 2021 virtual conference to be held October 12-14, 2021. These scholarships, generously underwritten by the Arizona State University Emeritus College, are available to individuals from colleges and universities that primarily serve traditionally under-represented populations or first-generation college students. Why should I attend this virtual conference?The conference will highlight the many benefits of establishing retirement organizations at institutions higher education, focusing on the innovative ways these organizations sustain their constituents’ social and intellectual wellness and facilitate retirees’ continued service to their colleges/universities and communities. Keynoters Louise Aronson, MD, acclaimed geriatrician and author of the bestselling Elderhood: Redefining Aging, Transforming Medicine, and Reimagining Life, and Jean Accius, PhD, Senior Vice President for Global Thought Leadership at AARP, will inspire us to resist agism and re-imagine retirement as a time of purpose and passion for elders everywhere. What does the scholarship cover?Each AROHE DEI Scholarship covers the cost of registration for one individual to attend the 2021 AROHE Virtual Conference, October 12-14, 2021, and the pre-conference workshop, “Starting or Revitalizing a Retirement Organization,” to be held on September 23, 2021. Who is eligible to apply?
How do I apply?Applications are due by Friday, September 17, 2021. Applicants are asked to write a brief statement (up to 100 words) describing their reasons for wanting to attend the AROHE 2021 Virtual Conference to learn more about increasing engagement of retired faculty and staff at their college/university, perhaps by founding a retirement organization. A selection committee will review nominations in the order they are submitted and will select awardees on a rolling basis.
